About the ICCA Project.

The Inclusive Climate Change Adaptation (ICCA) Project is dedicated to enhancing inclusive governance, empowerment, and resilience within communities. Operating in Nyando Sub-County, Kisumu County, this project aims to realize human rights by bolstering the inclusive resilience and adaptive capacities of persons with disabilities to environmental and socio-economic disruptions.

KEY OBJECTIVES

 

Capacity Building on Early Warning Systems and Disaster Preparedness.

The ICCA Project endeavors to train 30 women and men on indigenous and other early warning systems, along with disaster preparedness. By equipping participants with essential knowledge and skills, the project aims to enhance their ability to anticipate, mitigate, and respond to environmental challenges effectively.

 

Promoting Alternative Livelihoods and Access to Devolved Funds:

Twenty women, men, and youth with disabilities will receive training on alternative livelihoods and access to devolved funds. Through diversifying income sources and promoting access to financial resources, this initiative aims to enhance economic resilience and reduce vulnerability to climate change impacts.

 

Tree Planting and Reforestation

To contribute to environmental sustainability and resilience, the ICCA Project will support 100 households annually by providing 25 tree seedlings per household. This initiative aims to establish home-based forests, thereby enhancing local biodiversity and mitigating the impacts of climate change.

PROJECT LEAD.
Shadrack Oyier is a Community Development expert with over twenty (20) years of practical experience in development programming and design. He is a project cycle management professional with skills in Monitoring and evaluation framework and donor compliant reporting. Shadrack is the Project Manager for the Inclusive Climate Change Adaptation (ICCA) project implemented by ANDY in Nyando sub-county.
